My Blogs

Since 2002, I’ve been writing here about life, the universe, and everything. My interests include genealogy, history, and the arts. More recently, since July 2023 I’ve been writing about my experiences as a below-the-right-knee amputee.

Do Nothing Saturday

After the last few days of activity, it’s been a quiet day for me. Just a day of hanging out around the house listening to music, watching a little bit of television, surfing the net, and chatting on the telephone. The most energetic thing I’ve done is walk down to Noodle Star for a bit to eat. Gosh I love Singapore Noodles.

September in November

September in November

“Tack så mycket” (thanks a lot), she said, responding to someone in the audience who shouted out something in Swedish. “That’s what I love about Sydney”, she added in a delightful Swedish accent, “that people come here from everywhere”. September (aka Petra Marklund) played tonight in Sydney, and thanks to my friend Patrick I was lucky enough to be there for both the “industry” and “public” shows. Her song “Cry For You” was one of…

Bentley Birthday

Bentley Birthday

“Wanna come out for dinner?”, came the text from Damien late in the afternoon. As I’m still living on rations at the moment (after paying for Europe), I was a little reluctant at first until he added, “My shout, for your birthday…” It didn’t take much convincing then :) After a beer at The Trinity, we walked along Crown Street towards The Bentley which Damien had booked as a special treat. We’ve been there together…

Read the comments backwards… * Megan is wondering if Bowie is still afraid of Americans? * James says rudd then iphone now obama. human evolution. *…

Photo Finish

Photo Finish

Quite frankly, it’s an event I no longer feel any interest for or excitement in. I agree today’s photo finish was pretty good. But I’m far more interested in the outcome of tomorrow’s US…

Over The Bridge

Over The Bridge

I went “over the bridge” AGAIN tonight. And AGAIN it was for a production at The Ensemble Theatre. On Friday night it was a Shakespearean-style drama called, Mary Stuart. Tonight it was a a one-man-show featuring Reg Livermore with a black-comedy edge. On the way to the show I called in to The Kirribilli Hotel for a quiet glass of wine. There I ran into a long-term ABBA fan, her mother, step-father, and a good…
