I’ve spent nearly my entire life behind a microphone. My broadcasting story started back in 1978 when I was just twelve years old, volunteering at a community radio station. That early spark eventually grew into a decades-long career with the ABC as both a presenter and manager. Over the years, my work took me across regional hubs—from Lismore and Bourke to Renmark and Wagga Wagga—before I eventually made Sydney my home in 1995.

My path took a major turn in mid-2023 when I became an amputee. Facing that shift head-on, I decided to channel my background in media into something deeply personal. In October 2026, I’m launching The Limb Shift—a podcast and blogging project designed to share the raw, complex, and honest realities of limb loss and difference across Australia and the Pacific.

Storytelling has always been my way of processing the world. I’ve kept a personal blog since 2002 to document the history around me, and as a gay man who made the leap from rural life to the city, I’ve continually advocated for the LGBTQIA+ community, recording how queer spaces have evolved from regional New South Wales to Sydney.

I write about other stuff, too!
