Lurid Green Shirt

It’s Sunday afternoon and I’ve just returned from the Strawberry Hills Hotel where I’ve eaten one of their $5 rump steaks. Yeh, so much for the vegetarian diet I’ve been on for about a year now. Occasionally, just occassionaly I get a craving for meat and that’s what’s happened today. A highlight, I guess, in an otherwise fairly eventless week, aside from last Sunday night, when Graeme and I went out for a beer or…

Eddie Perfect

I’ve seen Eddie Perfect perform a couple times before, including once before in his show with Max Gillies, called The Big Con. I’d also seen Eddie in Hayden Tee’s late night cabaret at the Stable Theatre. While he was good then, and better with Max Gillies, he was really tremendous in his show, “Drink Pepsi, Bitch”. I think he was probably a little disappointed in the house, being only about half-full at the Petersham RSL…

Thank God the Raelians were allowed to participate

Raelians

It’s Sunday night and I’m watching a terrific show on ABC-TV about the song Strange Fruit, made famous by Billie Holuday. I, of course, stupidly hadn’t known it was a song about black lynchings, but now that I do the lyrics means so much more. Southern trees bear strange fruit,Blood on the leaves and blood at the root,Black bodies swinging in the southern breeze,Strange fruit hanging from the poplar trees. Pastoral scene of the gallant…

Day Off

It’s Wednesday night at the end of my “day off”. I took a day off today to make up for working 8 days in a row. Yeh, totally selfish I know. But it was really nice to have a mid-week day to myself. The weekends are fine, but there’s something really satisfying, almost self-indulgent about having a day off during the week. Since I last wrote, I’ve caught up with fellow bloggers, Glen and Mark…

Melodifestivalen 2006

It’s Monday night and I’m at home watching my favourite “geeky” television show, Call For Help which screens on the “How To Channel”. Fifteen minutes into the program and they’ve yet to tell me anything interesting, but it’s generally speaking a very interesting program. Aside from watching television, the last week or so has been a combination of good fun (lots of socalising) with lots of work though not much in the way of “culture”…

Glass of wine at Broome

Sadness

It’s Monday night and I’m sitting at home just surfing the net and I’m kinda haunted at the moment by the sadness that a few people I know are feeling. I received an email today from a friend who, twelve months ago, joined the “dark side” of public relations, about which she’s not happy. In fact, she’s quite depressed about things. I wrote back saying… I hope the job situation for you works itself out….
