Icebergs By Dusk

I had a meeting at Bondi Icebergs late this afternoon, which was a really nice end to the day. As they look out of their full-length office windows, the guys there have THE BEST VIEWS. It’s a chilly night in Sydney – cold and wet – and as we arrived, I looked down to notice one lone swimmer. His body was red with cold as he slowly did his laps. Why would you do it?…

Eurovision 2006

Eurovision 2006

I’ve just watched this year’s “Eurovision Song Contest”, and in some respects it reminds me of ABBA’s win in 1974. Not that there’s any musical similarity between “Waterloo” and the heavy-rock number from Finland that took out this year’s award. Rather it was the spirit of experimentation with the norms of Eurovision that links the two, and which was a characteristic of this year’s contest. After years of mostly similar sounding songs, that kinda Middle…

Frida- The DVD

Frida- The DVD

As a long time fan of Frida, aka Anni-Frid Lyngstad or “the dark one” from ABBA, I was really excited when I heard news of the release of this DVD to co-incide with her 60th birthday. I bought it a couple of months ago, watched it from start to finish, and have come back to it on many occasions since then, so I thought it worth writing about. She’s living mostly in Zermatt in Switzerland,…

Tales Of The City

Tales Of The City

I also picked up a copy of “Tales Of The City, which I’ve watched many times over the last ten years from…

Big Brother 06

I’ve become a little bit “hooked” on “Big Brother” this year, although I haven’t really watched all that many episodes of the program. This contrasts with previous years where I’ve watched many hours of the program, though I haven’t really had much of an interest in the people. But this year’s it different… This year it really is “Jerry Springer”, as all of the characters (yes, I know they’re people, but for the purposes of…

Feeling Sick

It’s Sunday night and I’ve just watched “Big Brother”. But that’s not the reason I’m feeling sick. I suspect a combination of overwork, travel and a degree of socialising has combined together, so that I’m feeling a little rundown and “fluey”. I spent a fair deal of both yesterday and today in bed and will probably take tomorrow off work to recover. Since last I wrote I’ve travelled to Adelaide for work, which was good….
